If you own a New Mercedes and are into working out then this is the watch for you.
Unveiled at CES 2019 alongside the high-tech 2020 CLA Coupe, the new Mercedes-Benz-branded Vívoactive 3 from Garmin. As the name suggests, is a Vivoactive 3 at heart. So it comes with smart notifications, onboard GPS and a wealth of sports tracking features and of course Garmin Pay.
Garmin and Mercedes worked together to integrate Garmin’s Health Companion SDK with the latter’s Mercedes me app to create a bespoke experience for future Mercedes owners.
The difference with this iteration is that it has some aesthetic tweaks and the watch also interfaces directly with the Mercedes Me mobile app on a connected mobile phone. That lets your vehicle know what kind of physical and mental state you’re in and make adjustments accordingly.
What that all means is that you’ll be able to choose a “less stressful” route in the navigation panel or switch on soothing music over the speakers, even have the vehicle dim the lights for you. You might even be offered a seat massage or different heat settings inside the vehicle.
The pairing of the two technologies is the result of the Fit & Healthy project first shown at CES 2017 by the two companies.
The device is expected to go on sale at Mercedes dealerships from March 2019. But! the impressive stress-reducing features won’t be available at launch, but will be available at a later date. Earlier this week, Garmin has also unveiled an LTE version of the Vivoactive 3. So be sure to check that version out as well.
